ACS (I) C Rugby 2008

ACS (I) captured its 12th straight Schools National Rugby C Division title by trouncing St Andrew's Secondary 39-0 at the Yio Chu Kang Stadium.

The ACSians dominated play from start to finish.

Three tries in the first half of the game came from ACS(I)'s Winson Yung, Jay Koh and Daniel Chong. Half-time score was 15-0.

In the second half, the ACSians were able to translate their superiority on the field into a bigger scoreline with four tries coming from Muhammad Rossafiq, James Morgan, Joey Wee and again James Morgan.

James Morgan also successfully converted the 5th and 6th tries.

Said ACS (I)'s Daryn Sit: ''Overall it was a pretty good game but it wasn't our best. Going into the final, we had expected a harder game from the Saints as we are the defending champs and they had nothing to loose.''

ACS (I)'s captain Leonard Wee said that despite the final being one-sided, the team still had to 'work together to cross the line'. He described this Secondary Two cohort as a cohesive team of players with individual flair.

With this victory, ACS (I) has achieved a 'grand slam' in the A, B and C rugby divisions for the first time as an independent school, that is, with ACS (I)'s 5th and 6th year students forming the A Division team.

Prior to this, there had been 'grand slams' with ACS (I) winning the B and C titles and ACJC capturing the A title.
