C Boys Water Polo Final 2010

ACS(I) beat Hwa Chong Institution 10-4 in the School’s National Water Polo C Division final.

But the ACSians took a while to get their engines warmed up. They failed to show their superiority in the first half of the game. Hwa Chong trailed by just a single goal after the first and second quarters. (1st quarter: 1-0, 2nd quarter 2-1)

The turning point came in the third quarter when the fired-up ACSians put four goals into the net to lead 6-2. They wrapped up the game with a decisive 10-4 win.

ACS(I) coach Zhong Sheng Gen felt that his young charges were afraid to loose, hence the jittery and cautious start to the final.

He said: “In the first half of the game, we were disorganised and our attack was ineffective. Although we were the superior team, the players could not display their skill and fitness.”

“It is only in the third quarter when the players regained their composure that they played a better game,” he added.
