A Div Rugby 2009 Semi-final ACS(I) vs ACJC
Anglo-Chinese Junior College has made it to the final of the 2009 Schools National A Division Rugby tournament after a 19-0 win over its brother school Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) on 5 May 2009.
ACJC pressured their opponents from the start with Chung Kai opening the score with a try. Muhammad Fadhil converted the ball to give ACJC 7 points.
In the second half, ACJC extended their lead with another try by Gabriel Oon and Muhammad Fadhil again sure-footed in the conversion.
When ACJC’s Alexander Prentice scored the third try, it was too late for ACS(I) to play catch up.
Said ACS(I)’s captain Douglas Wong: “It’s a disappointing loss for us, coming into semis as the defending champ of the tournament. We could have played a more physical game and kept our composure better.”
While the ACS(I) players were sorely upset over the loss, the ACJC camp was elated to have advanced into the final.
Said ACJC’s captain Peter Wang: “It’s always hard playing against your brother school. We stuck to our game plan: To keep it tight and play in ACS(I)’s half.
"We hope to do our brother school proud in the final.”
