Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) edged out its brother school Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) to win the Schools' National Water Polo B Division title for the third year running.

The Barker Titans, made up mainly of Sec 4s, ran into stiff opposition although it faced a younger ACS(I) team of mostly sec 3s at the CCAB pool on 6 April 2009..

ACS (Barker Rd) opened the scoring and hung on to their 1-0 lead to the end of the first quarter. Thereafter, both teams took turns to go one up in the closely-fought match.

It was 3-3 with just minutes left in the final quarter when ACS (Barker Rd) found the net one last time to end the match with a 4-3 scoreline.

ACS(I) mustered all their skills and energy in a late bid to get the equaliser but all too soon, the final whistle sounded.

ACS(I)'s captain Aaron Lei said: ''We didn't look back but fought all the way when we were tied at 3-3.''

He singled out team-mate, goalkeeper Teo Wei Yang for 'saving us on many occasions'.

"We did well but there are things we can improve on," he added.

ACS (Barker Road) captain Rishi Shankar Pandey said: "We trained very hard for this. It turned out to be a hard and evenly match game.

"There was a lot of pressure but we finally managed to get the lead and hold on to it to the last second. ACS (I) did very well even though we have one year more experience than them.''
